**IPS CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW NEWS**

Sponsorship:  This show should be self-supporting and, although the superb facilities at Cavan Equestrian Centre suited many, the cost was enormous.  We cannot rely on the entries to cover the cost, as the very large prizemoney cheque has to be cleared before the entry fees are lodged.  It is imperative that everyone tries to raise some sponsorship as it requires €100 to run each class but even €50 would help.  My aim is to have every class sponsored by the time the catalogue goes to print, with the sponsor’s name heading their class and, if we have your support before the rosette order is complete, the rosettes in your chosen colours.  Most of those people who have sponsored in the past have generously continued their support but there are many more classes looking for sponsors so, if you can raise even a €100, we would be most grateful …. after all, this Show is run for your children, ponies and enjoyment.  (Any cheques should be made payable to the Irish Pony Society).  It must also be stressed that should you, the members, wish to return to Cavan or a similar Equestrian Centre, it is essential that this show runs at a profit so that we have the funds to make this possible.

Help:  Set-up day is Thursday 12th August and there will be much to do to have the venue looking perfect.  We will need help to put up the rings which will be on grass, and also plenty of pots of flowers to brighten the rings.  We wish to make the site as impressive as possible. Should you be able to give us a few hours assistance please contact me on 087-9822147 or Des O’Sullivan on 087-6888454.

Stewards and Scribes:  This year each IPS Area is responsible for a certain ring and is requested to ensure their ring runs smoothly at all times, but we also need extra stewards to stand in for a few hours.  All probationary judges should offer their assistance, and also anyone interested in becoming a judge, as a great deal of knowledge and know-how can be acquired by stewarding.  Please contact us on the above numbers and give a time and day that you would be willing to help.

TRI Tom Robinson Gold Cup:  Please note that all sections of this will be held on grass, so make sure that your pony is suitably shod and that you have studs with you if you wish.

Measuring:  As all ponies have to be registered with the IPS, it is hoped that all have a current measurement, with the exception of those entered in youngstock classes, In-Hand Breed classes or Sportsman classes as these are not required to be measured.  As the expense of having a Veterinary Surgeon on site is considerable, it is essential that you inform us prior to the show, and on which day you are competing.  Please notify Siobhan in the IPS Office, 045-854513 at least one week before the show.

I am looking forward to seeing you all and hope that, with your co-operation, we can have a memorable and enjoyable show.
